Preserving Redding Community Fellowship
The Buckeye Grange traces its roots to the National Grange, founded in 1867 to help farmers rebuild after the Civil War and to become the first agricultural organization to give women full voting rights. In 1929, the California State Grange made history as the first statewide organization to support construction of the Shasta Dam, and just a few years later, the Buckeye Grange #489 was chartered in 1932, right in the heart of the action.
Named for the historic mining town of Buckeye established in 1849 and later annexed into the City of Redding in the late 1960s our Grange carries forward the legacy of that community. Today, we're proud to be one of the last visible remnants of old Buckeye, still bringing people together, still valuing education, and still growing to serve our community.
